Soft Pastel Landscapes

New date due to popular demand!

On this weekend workshop you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the beautiful and exciting medium of soft pastels and sanded pastel grounds. With a focus on landscape and rural buildings you will experience preparing textured and coloured surfaces and working into them to create stunning, richly layered and painterly effects. This workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers. All specialist pastel papers are included in the price


Sat 6th & Sun 7th July

10am – 4pm

£80 for 2 days including all specialist pastel papers and tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day. You will need to provide your own materials but an equipment list will be provided.

Seascapes and Crashing Waves in Soft Pastels

Learn to use the beautiful medium of soft pastels to create rich blended colours and dramatic effects on pastel papers. We will work with the theme of seascapes including rocks, crashing waves, mists and sea spray to build up at least one finished pastel work. No experience necessary, suitable for beginners and improvers.

Spring Flowers and Secret Gardens in Oil Pastels – fully booked

On this day workshop you will learn how to use oil pastels to create both drawings and more painterly effects. We will be drawing individual spring flowers and creating an oil pastel ‘painting’ based on the idea of the Secret Garden  – a hidden doorway or arch leading into the spring garden beyond. Suitable for beginners and improvers.

Winter Hares and Foxes in Oil Pastel – Fully Booked

Create a beautiful oil pastel art work of a winter hare or fox. On this one day workshop you will learn how to use oil pastels to create blended and textural effects ideal for depicting fur and snowy scenes. You will have  choice of wintery photos to work from  with either the hare or fox on this enjoyable seasonal workshop. Suitable for beginners and improvers

Mixed Media Art Workshop fully booked

Hartington Hall

3 days Painting and Drawing in the Peak District.

Come and enjoy a creative mixed media workshop in the beautiful village of Hartington in Derbyshire. We will be based in the studio space at Hartington Hall with all materials and tuition provided. Teas, coffees and light lunches are also included over the 3 days. In addition there will be plenty of opportunity to make the most of the wonderful Peak District setting and to work outside in the grounds of the Hall and the picturesque village with its duck pond, church and old stone buildings.

You will be exploring a range of waterbased mixed media including inks, watercolours, brusho dyes and collage to produce colourful and experimental work.  Anna will expertly guide you through step by step exercises in the studio and outdoor sketching sessions. Then with plenty of one to one guidance you will be encouraged to  follow your own ideas to create finished work inspired by the beautiful setting of Hartington.

Why not make your workshop into a holiday and book accommodation in the local area. There is plenty of local bed and breakfast accommodation in Hartington and some room availability at Hartington Hall as well as numerous places around the Peaks. It is strongly recommended to book this as soon as possible due to the popularity of the area.
