The weekly classes cover a wide range of media and there is an opportunity to explore everything from still life to landscapes to portraits. Classes aim to be enjoyable, friendly and supportive with regular demonstrations and one to one guidance. We also undertake occasional gallery visits and sketch trips and students have the opportunity to display work in informal class exhibitions from time to time.

Painting and Drawing For Beginners – fully booked
11 weeks starting 20th April 2023 @ Ranmoor Parish Centre, 5 Ranmoor Park Road, Sheffield S10 3GX
Over the course of 11 weeks we will cover a variety of drawing, watercolour and acrylic paint techniques. You will have the opportunity to draw from real life and be guided step by step through several watercolour projects based on plants and landscapes. This will link to a sketch trip on week 4. The second half of the course will be a fun introduction to acrylic paints and you will produce finished pieces as well as a smaller studies and a sample sheet of techniques.
There will be lots of step by step demonstrations and one to one guidance throughout so whether you are completely new to art or have ‘dabbled’ before this course is an enjoyable way to learn the basics.

Painting and Drawing: Plants, Gardens and Impressionism – fully booked

Over the course of 11 weeks you will have the opportunity to paint and draw in a variety of media including watercolour, acrylic and oil pastels. We will cover observational drawing techniques from life including a sketch trip to Sheffield Botanical Gardens and will work with ideas of Impressionism to create a finished painting. The second half of the course will be an introduction to oil pastels and cover a variety of subjects including lavender fields and an Impressionist seascape. The course is suitable for those with some experience although beginners are very welcome as there is always lots of one to one help.
